At least four individuals have tragically lost their lives following the collapse of an old iron bridge over the Indrayani River in the Pune district of Maharashtra on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred near a well-known tourist destination in the Kundmala area of Maval tehsil.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the bridge was densely crowded with tourists at the time of its failure.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reported that 32 people sustained injuries in the incident, with six individuals listed in critical condition and currently receiving medical treatment.
In response to the situation, two teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to the site to conduct search and rescue operations.
