Thrissur, Kerala: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani visited the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple on Sunday morning, offering prayers and extending his support to the Guruvayur Devaswom’s upcoming development projects. During his visit, Ambani contributed ₹15 crore towards the proposed Guruvayur Devaswom multi-speciality hospital. The temple authorities shared details and photographs of the visit on their official Facebook page, noting the significance of his contribution to the temple’s welfare initiatives.
Ambani
arrived in Guruvayur around 7.30 a.m. by helicopter, which landed at the
Sreekrishna College ground, before proceeding by road to the temple’s southern
gate. He was received by Devaswom Chairman Dr V. K. Vijayan and board members.
Despite special darshan restrictions in place for the public holiday, Ambani
was allowed entry using a neivilakku vazhipadu
coupon arranged for 25 members. After offering prayers at the sanctum
sanctorum, he made offerings at the sopanapadi and
received prasadam
from the chief priest.
Following the rituals, Chairman Vijayan presented
Ambani with prasadam
and a commemorative portrait of Lord Guruvayurappan. Devaswom officials then
briefed him on the upcoming multi-speciality hospital and the modern veterinary
hospital proposed for temple elephants. Impressed by the initiatives, Ambani
assured his full support and handed over a cheque for ₹15 crore as
the initial contribution for the hospital’s
construction.
Ambani also offered to extend technical assistance for the planned veterinary facility, drawing inspiration from Reliance’s wildlife conservation centre in Gujarat. The initiative aims to enhance the healthcare and management of Guruvayur’s temple elephants. After completing his temple visit and discussions, Ambani departed from Guruvayur around 8 a.m., concluding a brief but significant visit that underscored his continued involvement in philanthropic and cultural causes.
