Doha, Qatar: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health recently took part in a simulated exercise designed to mimic the outbreak of a fictional virus spreading worldwide. This exercise was coordinated by the World Health Organization's Global Health Emergency Corps (GHEC).
Qatar's team included members from the Health Emergency Department, Health Protection and Communicable Diseases Control Department, and Hamad Medical Corporation.
Health ministries in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Somalia, and Iraq participated in the simulation, alongside WHO representatives from Switzerland and Egypt.
The exercise aimed to test and enhance a coordinated response to evolving global health threats, focusing on the engagement of health emergency workforces and coordination structures facilitated by the GHEC.
