QFC offers free company registration for Web Summit Qatar attendees

Doha: The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) has introduced a special initiative enabling Web Summit Qatar attendees to register companies on the QFC platform with significant cost benefits, aimed at attracting technology-focused startups and entrepreneurs to Qatar.

Under the initiative, Web Summit ticket holders can begin the registration process by visiting the QFC pavilion at the summit and scanning a dedicated QR code to access the “Start Your Setup” form. Applicants are required to submit their Web Summit ticket number along with basic personal details to initiate the application.

Eligible businesses must be structured as Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) and include at least one technology-related activity from the approved list. Fintech firms are permitted to select up to nine sub-activities, while other applicants may choose up to five. Media-related startups seeking fee waivers can coordinate with Media City Qatar representatives at the Startup Qatar Pavilion.

The package offers substantial savings for founders, including a free licence for three years and a waiver of the standard application fee. Normally, the application fee is around $500, with an annual licence renewal costing approximately $5,000. Companies registered under QFC are subject to a 10 percent corporate tax on net profits.

The framework requires at least one shareholder to hold a valid Qatar residence permit, though a Qatari partner is not mandatory. QFC also provides onboarding and post-registration support through dedicated account managers, assisting with coordination across relevant authorities.

Officials said interest in the initiative has been strong, with many Web Summit visitors exploring Qatar as a base for regional and international operations. The initiative aligns with Qatar’s broader strategy to attract foreign investment and strengthen its technology and innovation ecosystem.
