In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump accused India of profiting from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict while ignoring the humanitarian crisis.
“India
is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of
the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits,” Trump wrote.
He further criticized India for allegedly turning a blind eye to the
devastation in Ukraine, stating, “They don’t care how many people in Ukraine
are being killed by the Russian War Machine.”
Trump concluded the post by declaring his intent to raise tariffs on India, saying, “Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!! President DJT.” The statement has raised concerns about potential trade friction between the two nations, especially amid growing global scrutiny of oil trade practices during the ongoing war
