White House says Iran should accept deal amid military buildup

Washington: The White House has urged Iran to accept a diplomatic agreement with the United States, warning that the opportunity for a negotiated settlement should not be missed as tensions continue to rise.

Speaking to reporters, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said diplomacy remains the administration’s preferred path. However, she made it clear that Washington is prepared to consider other options if talks fail to produce results.

Her remarks came as indirect negotiations between US and Iranian officials continue, aimed at addressing long-standing disputes over Iran’s nuclear programme. While discussions are ongoing, no final agreement has yet been reached.

At the same time, the United States has strengthened its military presence in the region, deploying additional assets as a precaution. Officials described the buildup as a measure to reinforce diplomatic efforts rather than replace them.

The comments highlight the delicate balance between negotiation and pressure as both sides weigh their next steps in a period of heightened regional tension.
