New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has alleged a major voter list manipulation by the Election Commission of India (ECI), claiming over 10 million fraudulent additions to the electoral rolls. Speaking to the media outside Parliament on Thursday, Gandhi called it an "atom bomb" of evidence uncovered by his party during a six-month investigation.
Gandhi
accused ECI officials of committing “treason” and warned of severe
consequences. “Whoever is doing this, from top to bottom in the ECI, we won’t
spare you. You’re working against the nation,” he said, asserting that the
manipulation threatens to destroy the credibility of the institution.
The
Election Commission swiftly dismissed the allegations as baseless, urging its
officials to remain focused on their impartial duties. “Despite the daily threats,
EC advises all election officials to not pay attention to such irresponsible
statements,” it said in a statement.
The INDIA bloc has also intensified its protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, alleging it is a BJP-RSS-driven conspiracy to disenfranchise Dalits, backwards, and the poor. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the ECI of coopfggfgerating in the dfdf plan,” while the draft electoral rolls for Bihar were published on Friday.
