Doha,: Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal,
has announced a new package of infrastructure and building projects valued at
approximately QR11 billion, covering multiple sectors across the country.
The authority confirmed that contracts worth more
than QR4.5 billion have already been awarded for 12 projects. Among the major
works is the redevelopment of Hamad General Hospital, which includes upgrading
facilities and modernising systems. Plans also cover the construction of a new
post office building in Al Thumama.
Additional projects include improvements to
equestrian facilities, expansion works at sports complexes, and development of
roads and infrastructure in residential areas. Landscaping works and shaded
pathways at Qatar University are also part of the awarded contracts.
Ashghal stated that a further eight projects,
estimated at around QR7 billion, will be tendered in the coming phase. These
include strategic drainage tunnels aimed at managing surface and groundwater,
along with additional road development schemes.
Officials said project awards are based on
technical and financial standards, with emphasis on supporting local companies
and enhancing national engineering capabilities.
The announcement reflects ongoing efforts to
expand public infrastructure and meet the country’s development requirements.
