Doha: Radio Malayalam 98.6 FM has announced the sixth edition of its much-admired humanitarian initiative “For My Love”, under which ten wives and five mothers will arrive in Qatar this year as part of its annual social responsibility programme. Widely embraced by the expatriate community, the programme will be held from February 9 to February 16, the organisers revealed at a press conference in Doha.
Organised with the support and cooperation of the
Indian community in Qatar, For My Love reunites families long separated by the
realities of expatriate life. This year, the initiative will host the wives of
ten expatriates who have been working in Qatar for decades, along with five
mothers who have been living alone in India while their sons pursued
livelihoods abroad.
The organisers described the inclusion of mothers
as a significant milestone in the programme’s journey. Many of the selected
mothers belong to low-income expatriate families and have endured years of
solitude, separated from their children. Extending For My Love to them marks a
compassionate expansion of the initiative, recognising their silent sacrifices
and emotional resilience.
Despite spending most of their working lives
overseas, many expatriates have never had the opportunity to bring their life
partners to Qatar. Through For My Love, the selected wives will visit Qatar entirely
free of cost for one week. Arriving in Doha on February 9, they will experience
the country where their husbands-and in many cases their children-spent the
prime years of their lives, while attending receptions hosted by community
organisations and institutions.
A public felicitation ceremony will be held on
February 10, attended by prominent personalities and senior officials, during
which all ten couples and five mothers will be formally honoured. The event is
expected to be one of the most emotionally significant moments of the
programme, celebrating love, patience, and sacrifice.
Launched in 2018 with ten wives, For My Love has grown steadily, reaching 14 beneficiaries by 2025. Responding to the sentiments of the expatriate community, organisers decided to include mothers this year. Participants were selected from hundreds of applications submitted by low-income expatriates who have worked in Qatar for at least 25 years, based on nominations from Radio Malayalam listeners.
Speaking at the press conference were KC Abdul Latheef, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Anvar Hussain, CEO of Radio Malayalam & QFMC, and Naufal Abdurahman, Deputy General Manager, along with representatives of commercial organisations supporting the initiative, who addressed the gathering during the official launch
