Doha: The Local Organizing Committee (LOC), in coordination with UEFA and CONMEBOL, has announced the cancellation of the Qatar Football Festival 2026, which was scheduled to take place in Doha from March 26 to 31.
According
to a statement issued on Sunday, the decision means that all planned festival
events in Qatar — including the highly anticipated Finalissima Qatar 2026 match between Argentina and Spain at Lusail
Stadium — will no longer take place in Doha as originally planned.
The
LOC explained that the cancellation was due to ongoing airspace disruptions and travel restrictions, which have
continued to affect the ability of fans, players, and officials to travel to
Qatar. In light of these circumstances, organizers and partner football bodies
agreed that relocating the event at
this time is the most appropriate course of action.
The
committee expressed appreciation for the partnership with UEFA and CONMEBOL and
said it looks forward to hosting future
international football events in Qatar.
Fans
who purchased tickets for the Qatar Football Festival will automatically receive full refunds through
the original payment method. International fans who booked travel
packages through tour operators will be contacted
directly regarding refund procedures, the statement added.
