Washington: India’s Reliance Industries has joined
a major oil refinery project planned in Texas, with an estimated investment of
around $300 billion. The announcement was made by former US President Donald
Trump, who described the project as a historic step for the American energy
sector.
The refinery is expected to be built in
Brownsville, Texas, and once completed, it could become the first large-scale
oil refinery constructed in the United States in nearly five decades. Officials
say the project aims to increase domestic refining capacity and strengthen the
country’s energy production.
Trump said the development would create thousands
of jobs and bring significant economic activity to the region. He also welcomed
the participation of Reliance Industries, one of India’s largest private
companies, in the ambitious project.
According to reports, the refinery will be
designed to process large volumes of crude oil and is expected to play an
important role in supporting the US energy market in the coming years.
Further details about the investment structure and timeline of the project are expected to be announced once the planning and approval processes are completed.
