Doha: Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz lifted the Qatar
ExxonMobil Open trophy after a dominant performance in the final at the Khalifa
International Tennis and Squash Complex.
The world No. 1 secured the title with a
straight-sets victory over France’s Arthur Fils, finishing the match 6-2, 6-1.
It marked another commanding display from the 22-year-old, who controlled the
contest from the opening set.
The championship trophy was presented by HE Sheikh
Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and the
Asian Olympic Council. Nasser bin Ghanem Al Khelaifi, President of the Qatar
Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, was also present during the
ceremony.
For Alcaraz, the Doha triumph adds another title
to his growing list of achievements and marks a strong statement early in the
season. Last year, he exited the tournament in the quarterfinals.
The victory further cements his position as one of
the leading figures on the ATP Tour.
