Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has warned motorists against excessive speeding during the final hour before iftar, noting that traffic accidents tend to increase during this critical period in Ramadan. In a statement shared on social media, the Ministry urged drivers not to endanger their lives or the lives of others by rushing to reach their destinations before sunset.
The
Ministry emphasized that slowing down enhances road safety and significantly
reduces the risk of collisions. Authorities reminded residents that patience
behind the wheel is essential, particularly during a month centered on
discipline and self-control.
Residents
have shared concerns about aggressive driving during the pre-iftar rush. Some
drivers reported feeling intimidated by sudden lane changes and speeding
vehicles, while parents traveling with children expressed anxiety over reckless
behavior on the roads. Others stressed that arriving a few minutes late for
iftar is far better than risking lives.
Delivery
riders also highlighted the pressure to complete orders before sunset, noting
that unsafe driving by some motorists increases the danger for everyone. With
the MoI renewing its annual warning, many residents hope greater awareness and
responsible driving will help ensure safer roads throughout Ramadan.
