Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) has
issued a public warning about the dangers of touching or collecting shrapnel
that may fall after explosions or similar incidents. Authorities said such
fragments can be extremely dangerous and should be left untouched.
Officials explained that pieces of shrapnel are
often sharp and irregular in shape. Trying to pick them up without proper
equipment can lead to serious cuts or injuries. In some cases, the fragments
may also remain very hot immediately after the incident, which increases the
risk of burns.
The ministry also pointed out that certain
fragments could contain unexploded materials. Moving or handling them may
trigger an unexpected reaction and put people nearby in danger.
Another concern raised by officials is that these
pieces often serve as important evidence for investigators. If people remove or
tamper with the fragments, it can make it harder for authorities to determine
the cause of the incident.
