Qatar mediates to bridge gaps in Gaza truce talks

Doha, Qatar: Qatar is actively mediating between Israel and Hamas to establish a framework for renewed Gaza ceasefire negotiations, Dr Majed al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), confirmed during a weekly press briefing on Tuesday. He emphasized that Qatar’s efforts are aimed at ending the ongoing war and addressing the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Dr al-Ansari stated that Qatari and Egyptian mediators are holding separate talks with the Israeli and Hamas delegations currently present in Doha. While detailed negotiations have not yet begun, he noted there are "positive early signals" and said both parties are working on building a framework to enable faster and more effective dialogue. However, he cautioned that the process remains in its early stages.

The MoFA spokesperson reiterated that no clear timeline for an agreement can be provided at this point, as the process requires time and sustained international coordination. “We will need time for this,” he said, underscoring that Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, continues its role in bridging differences between the two sides to pave the way for a possible truce deal.
