The Qatari national football team is set to face Uzbekistan on Tuesday at Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent at 4:45pm Doha time, in the final match of Group A in the third round of Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The team arrived in the Uzbek capital on Sunday and will hold their final training session and pre-match press conference on Monday.
Though
Qatar has already secured a spot in the Asian playoff round, head coach Julen
Lopetegui aims to keep the team’s momentum going following a morale-boosting
1-0 win over Iran. New call-ups Nabil Erfan and Mohammed Ayash have joined the
squad ahead of the match.
Iran and Uzbekistan have already claimed the group’s two direct qualification spots. Qatar currently sits fourth in the group with 13 points, behind Iran (20), Uzbekistan (18), and the UAE (14).
