Doha, Qatar: The Henley Passport Index has unveiled its latest rankings for 2025, assessing the strength of 199 passports worldwide based on visa-free access to various destinations. The latest report, utilizing data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), reveals notable advancements for Qatar, which has risen six spots to 47th place globally.
Qatari passport holders can now travel to 112 out of 227 destinations without the need for a visa, an increase from 108 destinations in January 2024 when Qatar ranked 53rd. Over the past few years, Qatar has seen fluctuations in its ranking, holding 54th place in 2020, 60th in 2021, 53rd in 2022, and 55th in 2023.
Within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, Qatar stands second only to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which boasts a remarkable 10th place with access to 185 destinations. Other Gulf countries have the following rankings: Kuwait at 50th with access to 99 destinations, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia both at 58th with 87 destinations each, and Oman at 59th with access to 86 destinations.
Dominating the list, Singapore continues to hold the title of the world's most powerful passport, granting its holders visa-free access to 195 countries. Japan closely follows in second place, with access to 193 destinations, solidifying the competitive landscape of global passport power.
