Doha: The Ministry of Labour has officially
launched the 2026 Qatar Nationalisation Award for the private sector, marking a
new step in efforts to strengthen the role of Qatari nationals in the country’s
workforce.
The award was introduced under the patronage of
the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, with senior government
officials attending the inauguration ceremony. The initiative was established
through an Amiri decree issued last year, reinforcing the state’s commitment to
supporting national talent.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Labour Dr Ali
bin Smaikh Al Marri said the award reflects the leadership’s focus on investing
in human capital as a foundation for sustainable development. He stressed the
importance of preparing qualified Qatari professionals and encouraging private
companies to create meaningful opportunities for them.
The award aims to recognise institutions that
demonstrate excellence in recruiting, training and retaining national
employees, while fostering supportive work environments that promote career
growth.
Officials noted that the initiative is part of
broader national efforts to deepen cooperation between the public and private
sectors and to build a competitive workforce aligned with Qatar’s long-term
development goals.
