Chennai: Talks between the Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) and actor-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), have
reportedly entered the final stage ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly
elections. According to sources, the BJP has offered Vijay the post of Deputy
Chief Minister along with around 80 assembly seats if the alliance comes to
power.
However, Vijay is said to be aiming for the Chief
Minister’s position, which remains a key issue in the discussions. Political
observers note that even a small swing in votes could influence the results in
several closely contested constituencies across the state.
The BJP is reportedly interested in bringing TVK
into its alliance because of Vijay’s large fan base in Tamil Nadu. Party
strategists believe that even a small percentage of his supporters could have a
significant impact on election outcomes.
Meanwhile, leaders from both sides have urged
party workers not to believe rumours circulating on media and social media
platforms. TVK representatives said that any decision regarding alliances will
be officially announced at the appropriate time.
