Indian carriers plan 50 flights from Middle East airports to repatriate passengers

New Delhi: The Ministry of Civil Aviation India has said that Indian airlines are planning to operate around 50 flights on Monday (March 9) from various Middle East airports to facilitate the travel of Indian nationals amid the evolving regional situation affecting air travel.

According to the ministry, Indian carriers including Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa Air are coordinating efforts to operate the flights from major regional hubs.

The flights are scheduled to depart from airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat and Jeddah, depending on operational feasibility and prevailing conditions.

The ministry said that 100 flights have already operated from these airports, helping many stranded Indian nationals return home. Earlier, 51 inbound flights on March 7 carried 8,175 passengers, followed by 49 inbound flights on March 8.

Authorities added that airlines are continuously assessing the ground situation at other airports across the region to determine whether additional flights can be arranged.

The ministry said it remains in close coordination with airlines and other stakeholders while also monitoring airfare levels to ensure ticket prices remain reasonable and that there is no sudden surge during this period.

Passengers have been advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding flight schedules and travel arrangements.
