Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Meteorology Department has reported a noticeable rise in temperatures across the country, with Wednesday, July 16, 2025, recording a high of 42°C and a low of 32°C.
The weather inland is expected to be hot to
very hot during the day, while offshore areas will experience some haze and
passing clouds. Visibility inland will range from 5 to 10 km, and 4 to 9 km
offshore. Inshore winds will shift from southwesterly to northwesterly at 5 to
15 knots, with gusts up to 20 knots expected during the day, turning later to
northwesterly to southeasterly. Offshore winds will be lighter, between 3 to 13
knots, with sea levels remaining calm at 1 to 3 feet.
Speaking
to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Executive Director of the Qatar Calendar House,
Eng. Faisal Al-Ansari, confirmed that this period marks the peak of summer heat
in the region. He noted that temperatures could reach up to 50°C in parts of
the Arabian Peninsula. This hot period lasts around 39 days and includes three
phases: Al Jawza Al Thanya, Al Murzam, and Al Kileibein. The strong Al Bawarih
northwesterly winds, common in May and June, are expected to weaken now, making
way for the dry and intense winds locally known as Simoom.
Humidity levels are also expected to increase across the Gulf region during this time, making the weather feel even hotter. Al-Ansari added that although daytime hours are shorter now, the longer nights make this season ideal for harvesting palm fruits. This period will conclude with the expected rise of the Suhail star on August 24, 2025. The public is advised to take precautions, especially those who are sensitive to heat and humidity.
