Jakarta:
HE Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of
Labour in Qatar, held key meetings in Jakarta to discuss enhancing bilateral
cooperation in labour-related fields with top Indonesian officials. The
discussions focused on strengthening ties between the two countries and
developing a more structured framework for labour collaboration.
She
met with HE Abdul Kadir Karding, Minister of Migrant Workers Protection and
Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), to explore
ways of advancing cooperation in protecting and recruiting Indonesian migrant
workers. The officials highlighted the importance of ensuring fair employment
practices and mutual benefits for both nations.
Additional
discussions were held with Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla, Deputy Minister for the
Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, and Dwi Setiawan Susanto, Director
General for Promotion and Overseas Employment Opportunity Utilisation. These
talks further examined recruitment mechanisms and the promotion of skilled and
qualified Indonesian workers in line with Qatar’s evolving labour market needs.
The meetings reaffirmed the commitment of both Qatar and Indonesia to promote safe, transparent, and mutually beneficial labour relations, with a shared focus on improving recruitment standards and worker protections in the years ahead.
