Doha: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Qatar has issued a public reminder urging electric scooter users to strictly adhere to their designated lanes and avoid riding on roads meant for motor vehicles. The advisory comes in light of growing safety concerns and incidents involving electric scooters in shared traffic zones.
According
to the MoI, using electric scooters on vehicle lanes is a clear traffic
violation and poses a significant danger not only to the riders but also to
other road users. The ministry emphasized that such behavior compromises public
safety and can lead to serious accidents.
To
ensure safer usage, the ministry has outlined essential safety guidelines for
all e-scooter users in the country. These include avoiding excessive speeds,
staying off motor vehicle roads, wearing a helmet at all times, keeping both
hands on the handlebar, and maintaining full attention on the road while
riding.
Authorities have called on all residents and visitors to comply with these safety measures and respect traffic rules. The MoI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible riding habits and protecting the wellbeing of all road users across Qatar.
