Doha, Qatar: The holy month of Ramadan will commence in Qatar on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, following the official sighting of the crescent moon.
The
Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs made
the announcement after Maghrib prayers on Tuesday evening. The committee
confirmed that the crescent marking the beginning of the blessed month was
sighted within the country.
Earlier,
the committee had called upon Muslims across the State of Qatar to observe the
skies on Tuesday evening and report any confirmed sightings of the Ramadan
crescent. Individuals who sighted the moon were requested to submit their
testimony at the Ministry’s headquarters in Dafna.
With
the official confirmation, mosques across Qatar will begin Taraweeh prayers
tonight, as the nation prepares to observe a month dedicated to fasting,
prayer, reflection and charitable acts.
